The price of a tattoo depends on the size, complexity, and location of the tattoo. Some artists charge by the piece, while others charge per hour. We have an hourly rate of £90 an hour, our minimum charge is £60, and our full day session is £500. We do require a deposit to secure a booking for every client.
Payment Information and Tips:
At our studio, we accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, as well as cash for payments. We also offer Clearpay installments for your convenience. Please note that any tip goes to your artist immediately.
Additionally, you can purchase a Clarity 11 gift card either in our studio or online. The gift card will be sent to you via email and must be redeemed within one year of purchase.
Yes, deposits are considered non-refundable; if you cancel your appointment, you will typically lose the deposit you paid to secure the booking. This is because the deposit guarantees your spot and compensates the artist for the reserved time that could have been filled with another client. If you cancel less than 24 hours after you send us your deposit, our artists have already spent time on design/project work.
All tattoos hurt a little bit. Some areas will hurt more than others, and sometimes you will barely feel it, but all tattoos are bearable; otherwise, people wouldn’t be extensively tattooed. The best way to minimize pain and anxiety is to stay calm, not tense up, breathe slowly, and accept that it will hurt a little. Make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing, have eaten, and had a good night’s sleep beforehand. Many people choose to take a painkiller like ibuprofen an hour before the tattoo and find that this helps to take the edge off.
Numbing creams can be great for smaller tattoos. They generally don’t work for more than a couple of hours, though, so we would not recommend them for longer sittings. Always consult your tattoo artist before using numbing cream, as not all artists like to work on numbed skin.
The general healing time for a tattoo is 7-14 days. This doesn’t mean it will hurt for 14 days, but you might find it a little itchy and scabby. Each artist will provide suitable aftercare instructions. In general, the best advice is to keep it clean by washing with hot water and a natural, fragrance-free baby soap for the first few days, then use a recommended tattoo aftercare cream to moisturise the healing tattoo. Our personal choice is CrocArt, which we sell in our studio. Never pick the scabs off a healing tattoo, as this will result in colour loss and patchy healing. You need to keep a new tattoo out of prolonged contact with water for 14 days, so no swimming or long soaks in the bath; showers are fine. It’s advisable to keep any tattoo out of the sun and always use factor 50 sunscreen.
You should eat well, get enough sleep, shower or bathe, and avoid alcohol and blood thinners within 24 hours of your appointment. We usually clean shave the area before, so there’s no need for you to shave. You should also avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for a couple of weeks before and after your appointment.
Tattoos have their negatives, but they are completely safe. All our artists are certified and licensed to tattoo in our studio.
You must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo in the UK. No parental supervision is required if you’re under 18. ID will be asked for; bring a driving license, passport, or birth certificate.
Contact our artist with your design; this is the best way to create and start the design process. Send any images you have, specify where on the body, how big you want the tattoo, whether it should be black and grey or colour, and any medical or tattoo-related information they need to know. You can discuss any changes to your design with the artist on the day of your appointment.
It is not advisable to get tattooed while pregnant, and no reputable tattooist will do this. You will be asked to sign a consent form before your appointment, one of the things it will ask you to declare is that you aren’t pregnant.
We do allow one friend or family member to come and be there for you before the tattoo/piercing process starts. We have a waiting area with a comfortable sofa where your friend or family can wait. Some of our artists will offer a chair for your guest; please discuss this with your artist/piercer.
Yes, it is possible to tattoo over scars, but it depends on factors like the texture of your scar and how healed it is. We recommend booking a consultation with your tattoo artist so they can advise on the best approach for your tattoo.
In Hertfordshire, like the rest of the UK, there is no legal age limit for most general piercings, but most studios will require parental consent for anyone under 16 or 18. You would typically need a parent’s permission to get a piercing if you are under 16 or 18; we don’t carry out and will not do genital piercings. Please contact our piercer, Sophie, for more information either through our website, social media, or email.
Please feel free to come to our studio; our artists/piercer are genuinely nice people to talk to and will be happy to assist you in any way possible. Contact us through our website, email, or social media.
